Okay I promised more pics!!!!

Wednesday, November 30, 2011

Well I've been kind of busy the last couple of days.  Hubby and I have a couple days off so  I'll have more time to blog, etc.  Hopefully, between the two of us, we'll get all the projects around the house completed before Christmas.  Anyway, that's the plan........

Last Night...

Saturday, November 26, 2011

Last night we went to visit our beautiful granddaughter, Natalie.  I couldn't wait to see her and cradle her in my arms.  She was even more beautiful than I remembered (if that's possible).

Also, hubby and I got to spend some quality time with Natalie, the boy and mom which was nice.  We brought them Swiss Chalet for a well-deserved treat which the boy really appreciated.  He looked exhausted and starving.  This has been quite the roller coaster ride for him but I know he wouldn't have it any other way.  Sleep will be a luxury.

Hubby is going to make them a big tray of lasagna and once they are settled back in at home we'll take it over to them.  Mom should be leaving the hospital today (hopefully).

They are coming over for Christmas dinner (unless the weather is really bad)and I'm so excited.  Baby's first Christmas..... She'll get to meet my mom (her great-grandmother), hubby's dad and hubby's sister and whoever else may drop by.

Hubby has to construct the crib and we need to get the spare room ready so Natalie has somewhere cozy to sleep while they're here.

I must remember to buy a "Baby's First Christmas|" tree ornament for them.

Again, I do have some more pics but need to download still.

Hope everyone has a fabulous weekend.

Until later....

Ciao

I fell in love today...

Wednesday, November 23, 2011

This has been quite a day.  My granddaughter Natalie Anne  made her appearance into the world at 3:15 pm today weighing in at 8 lbs. 17 ozs.  What a beauty, with beautiful black hair and blue eyes.  She took my breath away.  When I held her, time stood still.  I couldn't tell you what was going on around me at that moment because I was mesmerized.  I fell in love today....

I told the boy that no day will match today. He has his little girl.  To watch the boy's face when he looked at her well I could see that he too fell in love today.....

With all the crazy stuff that's going on in the world it's days like today and being present for the birth of my first grandchild that makes all the other "stuff" seem so insignificant and irrelevent at least for the moment.

I wouldn't trade places with anyone right now.

Here's a couple of pics but there will be lots more to come.

Presenting - Natalie

Take care and hug the ones you love.......

I can not put into words how excited I am.  Tomorrow is a big day.  My granddaughter is arriving by C-section @ 1:45 pm.

The boy finally put one in the net.

I am working 1/2 day and then off to the hospital with gifts, balloons and my trusty camera.  I will be posting pics but for now some other pics I adore:

Oh the Injustice!

Friday, November 18, 2011

Okay I have a beef.  I know a lot of people will be bugged by what I say but I have to get it off my chest.

I love to smoke.  That is my personal choice.  Having said that I want to say to all the non-smokers out there - leave us alone!!!  Stop treating us like we're some kind of disease.  Now not all of you do that or even think like that (thankfully my friends) but too many of you do.  Get off your pedestal and stop acting all sanctimonious (I have no idea if I spelt that right).  You're not special. You've just made a conscious choice not to smoke and that's fine.  That's your business but leave us who enjoy it ALONE!

It's bad enough we have to go out and freeze to death because God forbid you inhale some dreaded smoke.  Oh boo hoo.

We won't die of lung cancer because pneumonia will get us first.

I'm sorry but I'm so sick and tired of whiners.  What has our world come to when you can't let your child take a peanut butter and jam sandwich to school, drink tap water or ride a bike without a helmet.  We've created a generation of pansies.

When I was a kid there were no seatbelts, helmets, laws against smoking, water in plastic bottles or any of that other silly stuff and I'm still here!  Mind you most of my friends are dead but that's beside the point.....hehe

We had fun and that's what childhood should be all about.

Oh the injustice of it all...

Now to take the edge off, a few beautiful pics:

Take care....

So the kid is down for the count!

Wednesday, November 16, 2011

So the kid is down for the count!  She got hurt at work trying to get food out of the microwave and badly burned her hand.  Her friend took her to the walk-in clinic and she found out she had 2nd degree burns.  They cleaned and wrapped her wound and prescribed Tylenol 3 for the pain.  She's resting now on the sofa and will spend the night.  A nice hot plate of pasta will fix her up......and of course a nice glass of red wine....

Anyway, not a terribly eventful day.  Still waiting to hear from the boy.

Another pic from my collection:

Well a Lot Has Happened...

Tuesday, November 15, 2011

Well a lot has happened since my last post on Saturday.

I fell in the afternoon smashing my mouth on the coffee table in the den.  It happened in the blink of an eye as I was trying to move the stupid thing.  BAM.... the force was so intense that it pushed back two of my teeth while knocking the other one forward.  If I had known, I would have wore a mouth guard.  Blood everywhere.  It even sprayed up on to my forehead.  What a mess.

I guess it could have been worse.  Oh well, I went to the dentist yesterday and he froze my mouth and pushed them back into place.  Thank God!  Well the teeth are aligned for now and I`m able to chew somewhat. The lips inside are still a mess but healing.

On another note, the boy called today to tell my nothing yet in the labor dept.  Still waiting to hear when my granddaughter is going to make her appearance in this world.  Should I warn her what she`s in for...hehe.  Maybe not.

So I`ve added some cool pics to my post.

Hope you enjoy.

Oh I'll Keep Going....

Saturday, November 12, 2011

So the old furnace just got removed from the house.  Good ridance.  It never heated the house properly and it was old......Now they're ready to install the new one.  YEAH!!!!

Hubby and I are waiting for them to be done so we can go out and do some errands.

This morning I had to go for a cleaning at the dentist's.  I know that doesn't sound like a big deal but every time I step into the dentist's office I'm traumitized.  It goes back to when I was a little girl and went to see Dr. Box (my uncle's dentist).  You see Dr. Box did not believe in painkillers of any kind.  No gas, no needles, no anything.  The nurse would hold down one arm and my uncle the other so I couldn't move while Dr. Box proceeded to drill into my teeth.  Lovely.

I remember the dreaded drive there and the whole time I'd be telling my uncle that I needed to go to the bathroom and once there would go and sit on the toilet hoping they'd forget about me....no such luck.

When I was in my teens I just wouldn't see a dentist at all because of of that.  It wasn't until my '20's and I heard that most dentists actually used "freezing" that I mustered up the courage.  I still hate it though, like today when the hygenist accidently hit a cavity and I lifted a foot off the chair.  The paranoia came back.

Oh I'll keep going because I should but I won't like it..............

So cute!

I'm Sickened

Thursday, November 10, 2011

I'm sickened by what I just saw on Dr. Drew and have to write about it while it's still fresh in my mind.

My new hero is Hillary Adams who posted a video of her taking a vicious beating at the hands of her father when she was sixteen.  Apparently, he caught her downloading music on her computer.  OMG!!! She had gone through these beatings before so she hid a camera on her dresser which recorded video AND audio.  What a man!!! Such a tough guy beating his daughter viciously with a strap.  This so-called man is a judge in Texas who oversees court cases involving issues like this.  I think he should be locked in a jail cell with a guy named Sven......

Anyway, these so-called disciplinary actions by family members are disgusting and leave emotional scars on their victims for the rest of their lives.  A girl's father is the first man she'll ever love.  How he raises her and treats her affects the men she chooses in her life when she reaches adulthood.  How can she ever trust a man when the one man she thought she could trust, does this to her.

I've witnessed this type of brutality in my own life when my grandfather used to whip my sister with a belt so badly that the welts left on her legs affected how she walked.  I can still hear her screaming begging him to stop.  Unfortunately, later in life, drugs were her escape and finally helped lead to her demise.

We have to make the so-called people accountable for their actions and stop turning a blind eye.

It's not just men either.  Women are also abusive just not as frequently and not to the same degree as men.

You can not beat a stranger and get away with it so why are these people beating family members and getting away with it?

I'm sickened.....

Something to think about.....

Tuesday, November 8, 2011
After a conversation with a friend today I got to thinking about how years ago, in school, children were considered to have a disability if they were left-handed and reprimanded by the teacher if seen writing with their left hand.  Those kids had to go to "special" classes and were constantly being centered out in class.  Well thank God that went by the wayside.  Actually, I read an article recently about a study done showing that left-handed people tend to be more creative, artistic, highly intelligent and some even believe clairvoyant.

The school system has come a long way but it still has it's flaws.  The left-handers are no longer ridiculed but the lessons of fundamental spelling and grammer have definitely taken a back seat in modern teaching.  Very sad.  What we've produced in this society are illiterates graduating university.  I remember my son's teacher telling me that the reason schools were no longer concentrating on the basics was because it inhibitated the child's creativity.  In otherwards, they could write better when not worried about the grammer and spelling.  Their thoughts could just flow.  I believe that's why we have "drafts".  You write your "draft" paper then go back and make the corrections.  Makes sense to me.

My smart friend summed it up well - you can't build a building with the "foundation".

Something to think about...

Arriving in Rome....we'll be back!!!

So I lost my post

Saturday, November 5, 2011

So I lost my post from a few minutes ago.  Hopefully I won't do that again.

Waiting for the kid to pick me up.  We have some errands to do then headed over to her place.  She's made some changes that I'm curious to see.  Hubby will meet us there and then we'll go grab something to eat.

Down for the count!

I know I'm late posting but I've been down for the count!!!  Haven't been outside for 2 days.  It all started Wednesday after supper when my head started pounding.  Then the sore throat, runny nose, pounding sinuses well you get the picture.  I blame hubby.  He was very sick and I felt fine so I thought I was going to get away scot free.  No such luck!

Curses..............but I'll keep him anyway.

So I'm now trying to get a real estate seminar to attend in Mississauga.  I got an invite to one in Oakville but hubby said to try to get one closer to home.  So I'm just waiting to hear.  I also have a neighbour who did the online course and need to find out which website she went through.  We shall see........

So I tried to rest as much as I could today.  Yesterday I was almost comatose so we won't count that day.  I think I'm on the road to recovery because I feel more alert today although the headache doesn't seem to want to leave.  It just comes and goes.

Tonight I am going to have a nice hot meal, glass of wine, try to smoke (since my sore throat started it's like lighting a match to my throat every time I inhale) and zzzzzzzzz

Take care everyone and love passionately..............

Sorry about yesterday

Wednesday, November 2, 2011

Sorry about yesterday.  It was a crazy day.  Very tired and didn't get a chance to get on to my blog.

So I'm going to a real estate seminar.  Just waiting for the details.  I will see if this is what I want to pursue to supplement my income.  We shall see.

It will be challenging but I'm up for a challenge.

So Halloween came and went.  Not too many kids this year but the ones that did come were adorable.

Now looking forward to Christmas, my favorite time of year.  Not sure what we're doing this year as my granddaughter is due to make her arrival into this world on the 14th.  I have the kid's birthday on Dec. 1st and hubby on the 15th so it's going to be a busy time.  Love the lights, warmth and glow of the fireplace and the smell of cinnamon throughout the house.  Can't wait.

Here's one of my favorite pics:

Me and the kid.

And another pic I just like a lot, enjoy!
